TikTok extends maximum video length to 10 minutes

TikTok is starting to roll out the ability for users to upload videos up to 10 minutes in length. Previously, the videos of TikTok they could last up to 3 minutes after a change in July 2021. Before that, the limit was 60 seconds after initially expanding from 15 seconds.

“We are always thinking of new ways to add value to our community and enrich the experience TikTok. Last year, we introduced longer videos, giving our community more time to create and be entertained on TikTok”, a spokesman said in a statement. “Today, we are excited to begin rolling out the ability to upload videos of up to 10 minutes, which we hope will unlock even more creative possibilities for our creators around the world.”

The extended video length will give creators more time and flexibility when shooting things like cooking demos, beauty tutorials, educational content, comedy sketches, and more. Before the new video length, the creators had fixed the limitations of TikTok by encouraging viewers to follow them through part 2 or more of their video series. While this works sometimes, it can be frustrating for users to have to scroll through a creator's feed to find the right video in a series.

Today's announcement makes TikTok into an even bigger competitor YouTube, which attracted 28.8 billion dollars in advertising revenue in 2021. However, YouTube has been sufficiently threatened by the growth of TikTok like to launch its own short-form video rival right into its own app, YouTube Shorts. However, hosting short videos is not the only advantage of TikTok, as it is known for its combination of features, including its library of special effects, AR tools, and music catalogue. Other popular features include duos, which allow creators to collaborate with other users' content.

YouTube was not the only social application that realized the threat of TikTok, Ya que Instagram released his clone TikTok, Instagram Reels, in 2020. Since then, Instagram has implemented several Reels functions that are similar to those of TikTok, such as his Duet Remix Feature. She also expanded Reels to Facebook. Snapchat also released a video feature similar to TikTok, Like Pinterest.

But while TikTok chases advertising dollars YouTube, this one is targeting TV ad dollars. The Google-owned video platform recently announced that it will host its annual event brand cast advertiser's program during the week of TV Upfronts in May, instead of the digital NewFronts. (Though he will still be a sponsor for the latter.)

TikTok says the option to shoot longer videos in the app will roll out to global users in the coming weeks. Users will be notified when they receive the update. They should also make sure they are using the latest version of TikTok before testing the function.
