TikTok expands the pilot of its Stories feature

TikTok is expanding the pilot for its Stories feature, which the platform previously confirmed was in testing summer 2021.

Just like an Instagram story, Stories from TikTok they last 24 hours before they are automatically deleted and can be viewed by navigating to a user's profile and clicking on their profile picture. You can see how many people viewed the story, but unlike Instagram, you can't see who viewed it. But, you can like a story and leave a public comment, while on Instagram, commenters can only reply directly in a private message.

To publish a story, click on the "publish" button in the lower central navigation bar of the application. It then switches to a "quick" camera mode, which allows you to post a photo or video to the story. These videos have the same creation options as regular videos from TikTok, allowing you to reply to comments, use filters, and more. Photos don't have the same functionality - you don't need a recording timer for a photo as it is a photo, but you can still add music and effects to photos.

Not all users will have access to this feature yet. Based on testing, it seems that if you don't have the feature, you can't see the stories that have been uploaded by users with the feature.

“We are expanding a pilot that gives creators additional formats to bring their creative ideas to life for the community of TikTok”, confirmed a spokesman for TikTok.
