Innovation in Asturias: Industry 4.0

The edition of the Open Innovation 4.0 program, promoted by the Government of Asturias, has allowed seven large Asturian companies to strengthen their presence in industry 4.0 supported by seven innovative emerging companies.

The Minister of Employment, Industry and Tourism, participated in the presentation of the projects developed within the framework of this initiative within the measures that the Principality is carrying out to facilitate the digitization of the business fabric.

The work of the Institute for Economic Development (Idepa) and the European Center for Business and Innovation (CEEI), which lead the program, in which Aciturri, Alsa, ArcelorMittal, EDP, Gonvarri, Química del Nalón and Thyssenkrupp have participated, has been valued. , which have been formed by the innovative startups PixelsHub, AbaMobile, Ingeniacity, Energintel, Alavista Studio, Be One and Neosentec.

The business couples were formed in mid-2017, after the leading companies presented their technological challenges in the field of industry 4.0, related to data analytics, interactivity, sensors, the use of drones and virtual reality and increased.

After more than a year of joint work, the tractors have managed to overcome their challenges and, in turn, have facilitated the acceleration of young innovative companies, which have been able to position themselves as benchmark technological enablers.

It highlights the work of industrial companies, enablers, technology centers and the University of Oviedo to create an innovative environment that will facilitate the configuration of the Asturias digital innovation hub, a pole that can position the Principality as a European benchmark in the field of industry 4.0.

The general director of Idepa, Eva Pando, recalled that in subsequent editions of the Open Innovation 4.0 program, which are already underway, six binomials have been formed between leading companies and emerging companies: Capsa-Táctica TIC, DuPont-Wetech, Idesa- Energintel, MBA-Goo Apps, PMG-iCube and Reny Picot-Objetivo Creativo.

Open Innovation 4.0 has achieved for Idepa the Prize for the Best Development Agency in Europe awarded by the European Association of Development Agencies (Eurada) and the European Prize for Business Promotion organized by the European Commission.

Likewise, it has favored the designation of Asturias as a European Entrepreneurial Region by the Committee of the Regions.
