Between the recent drama surrounding the game and its controversial decision to take a bigger slice of the subscription revenue pie, it's been dramatic times for Twitch. Now, the company says it is testing a new way for streamers Get cash from your most engaged followers in the form of "elevated chats" that allow viewers pay to highlight a chat message and keep it visible during a certain period of time.
The elevated chats of Twitch they look a lot like the "superchats" of YouTube. Like that feature, paying more will make your message stand out for a longer window, from $5 for 30 seconds to $100 for 2,5 minutes in the spotlight. Those time intervals are not customizable at the moment.
Twitch points out that the streamers will get a cut 70/30 of income from the high “after taxes and fees” chats, not the controversial 50/50 revenue share you get from most creator subscriptions, but not the 80/20 was tested on other chat test features.
Elevated chat is just a test for now, but adds a more direct way for viewers to pay their favorite streamers in chat.
