Ribbit Capital adds funds for its investments in Fintechs

Ribbit Capital, a venture capital firm best known for its investments in financial technology (fintechs), has raised $1,150 billion in new capital in what appears to be the closing of its seventh fundraising, according to a document filed with the Commission of United States Securities and Exchange (SEC).

The new fund, called Ribbit Capital VII LP, is the final phase of the background. The amount is significantly higher than the $750 million the company was said to raise in 2021. It's also more than double the $420 million it raised in its sixth round in January 2020.

Since its inception in 2012, Ribbit Capital had raised about $1.3 billion in capital, according to Crunchbase. It has invested in some of the largest fintechs globally today, including Coinbase, Nubank, Affirm y Robinhood.

The managing partner of RibbitMeyer "Micky" Malka is listed as a director of an entity called Bullfrog Capital LP. According to a 2020 filing associated with that Palo Alto-based venture capital firm. Bullfrog intended to gross $500 million, and eventually ended up grossing $1,150 billion as well.

The year 2021 was very active for Ribbit, which developed a series of investments in Latin America and led several agreements. For example, he led the $35,8 million investment in righteous, a startup with the ambition to be the first insurance company in Brazil to use big data to determine rates.

The firm has not only been active in America. In March 2021, led a $65 million fund raise in Indonesian investment management app Wonderful.

Ribbit Capital, a venture firm best known for its fintech investments, has raised $1.15 billion in new capital in what appears to be a close of its seventh fund, according to a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). 

The new fund, dubbed Ribbit Capital VII LP, is believed to be the final closing of the fund. The amount is significantly higher than the $750 million the firm was said to be raising in March of 2021. It is also more than double the $420 million it raised in its sixth fund in January of 2020.

Since its 2012 inception, Ribbit Capital had previously raised about $1.3 billion in capital, according to Crunchbase. It has invested (and seen exits) in what are some of the world's largest fintechs today, including Coinbase, Nubank, Affirm and Robinhood.
