Amazon reaches agreement with Visa to continue accepting payments

Amazon y Visa have resolved their dispute over payment rates in the UK and elsewhere along the same lines. Reuters has reported. "We recently reached a global agreement with Visa that allows all customers to continue using their Visa credit cards in our stores."

Amazon threatened to stop accepting Visa in the UK from January 19, citing the high fees it charges for credit card transactions. The rest of Europe was not affected as the EU has a cap on card issuer fees, but both Mastercard and Visa other fees were charged in the UK after Brexit. The regulator in the UK announced would investigate those increases.

It seemed unlikely that Amazon to carry out its threat to the end, given Visa's dominance in the payments market. In fact, shortly before that deadline, Amazon it said it would continue to accept the cards after all, and said it was "working closely with Visa on a possible solution."

Amazon it did not ban or threaten to ban Visa cards anywhere else, but it has been charging an additional transaction fee for customers using Visa in Australia and Singapore. That charge has now been revoked, and Visa y Amazon They seem to have left everything behind. “This agreement includes the acceptance of Visa in all the stores and sites of Amazon today, as well as a joint commitment to collaborate on new product and technology initiatives,” said a spokesperson for Visa it's a statement.
